mt Masking Tape Factory Tour vol. 8

mt Masking Tape Factory Tour vol. 8

Every Year, fanatic mt Masking Tape fans flock to the quaint Japanese town of Kurasiki for the notorious mt Masking Tape Factory Tour. Reminiscent of the Willy Wonka Golden Ticket, mt fans around the world apply for the chance to win an infamous factory tour ticket with a lucky number of winners being selected at random.

This year, we were fortunate enough to receive a golden ticket so eagerly hopped on a flight to Japan to see this remarkable and hugely inspiring event in the flesh!

When arriving in Kurashiki, the home town of mt Masking Tape, it was clear that the mt brand is loved by its residents and the many tourists who visit this ancient Japanese town every year. Shops in the town are adorned with decorative mt displays and are brimming full of washi tape addicts of all ages. Tane x 612, a store run by a Japanese couple, was a particular highlight as it stocks over 500 different designs of mt Masking Tape. The shop, which reminded us of an old-fashioned sweet shop, was jam-packed full of customers who appeared to be in washi tape heaven! We loved watching customers as they happily selected as much tape as they could carry.

After exploring Kurasiki Old Town, we embarked a washi covered bus which took us to the mt Masking Tape Factory Tour vol. 8. On arrival, we were given a step by step guided tour of the factory which gave us amazing insight into the tape making process, how it is created, cut and packaged. We even had the opportunity to cut our very own roll of mt Masking Tape!

Following the Factory tour, we were able to learn about the history of the brand, discover the different and obscure uses of mt masking tape, take part in fun workshops and of course purchased a selection of limited-edition tapes.

We had an incredible trip learning about the amazing world of washi tape and would encourage anyone who loves mt Masking Tape to to apply for next years tour. It won’t disappoint!
