How-to: Easter cards with Collage Club!

Steph is recognised for her bold, geometric and modern collages. Discover the art of cutting and sticking as Steph shares her step-by-step guide to creating the perfect Easter card...

Materials

You’ll need:

  • A selection of your favourite mt Masking Tapes
  • A couple of sheets of colourful paper or card
  • Colourful blank cards
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Cutting mat
  • Craft knife
  • Small hole punch
  • Glue

1. Start by drawing and cutting out a selection of egg shapes. They can be as big or small as you like as long as they fit on your blank card.

2. Place a strip of masking tape on to your cutting mat and use your craft knife to cut long thin strips from top to bottom. Here, they are a couple of millimeters wide but you can make them as chunky or thin as you like. Use a ruler if you want to be really neat!

3. Next use your knife to cut horizontally across every 2cms down. You’ll end up with lots of thin strips to work with. Repeat with as many colours of tape as you like.

4. Now it’s time to decorate! Use your tiny pieces of tape to make patterns on your paper eggs. You can use the tip of your craft knife to lift and place the pieces of tape on to the paper. Create multi coloured starbursts, candy stripes, fun confetti or any other pattern you like.

5. Use a holepunch to create lots of colourful dots to finish off your designs. Use a glue stick to hold them in place.

6. Once you’re happy with your eggs, choose a blank card to back them on to. Go for one statement egg or make lots of mini eggs to cover the whole card.

Happy Easter and happy making!
